Parents
Team Parent
LBYSO encourages every coach to enlist a Team Parent, so the coach can focus on coaching.
What does a Team Parent do?
The Team Parent, or Team Manager, handles the non-coaching jobs so the coach can focus on skills, practices and game management. That might include:
- Uniform distribution
- Getting a team banner
- The snack schedule
- Organizing the end-of-season event
- Other non-coaching duties
How do I become one?
Any adult member can be a Team Parent. Tell your coach you'd like to help. Some returning coaches already have a Team Parent, and some coaches will ask the whole team for a volunteer.
Are there requirements?
Two: a background check, which is a simple online form, and SafeSport training. Federal law requires SafeSport certification for any adult working with children under 18. LBYSO covers the training fee, and it renews each year with a short, free refresher.
Ready to help?
The Team Parent Coordinator will get you set up and be your contact all season.
