Rules & Guidelines
The essentials for game day. The full detail is in the LBYSO Rules & Regulations.
Game uniforms
- All players must wear soccer cleats and shin guards.
- Matching jerseys, shorts and socks, with jerseys tucked in.
- Intercity and travel players must bring both jerseys in case of color conflicts.
- U8 and up: an alternate jersey or pinny for the goalkeeper.
Setup and teardown
Teams with the first and last games of the day on home fields set up and tear down their field. Division-specific instructions are in the Coach Game Day Reference.
Coach positioning
Two sideline coaches at most: the head coach and assistant coach. No coaches behind the goals, except during the first 3 games in U8 and U10.
Weather
Games may be played in light rain or drizzle when field conditions allow. Long Beach Parks and the LBYSO Board have the final say, and we post updates in PlayMetrics and on social media as soon as we can.
