TEAM PARENT INFO

LBYSO encourages all coaches to enlist the help of a Team Parent.

WHAT IS THE TEAM PARENT?

The Team Parent or Team Manager handles non-coaching duties to allow the coach to focus primarily on coaching duties - player skills development, practices/training, game management.

Duties handled by the Team Parent might include but are not limited to:

  • Uniform distribution
  • Acquiring a team banner
  • Snack schedules
  • Organizing end of season event
  • Other items to let the coach focus on their primary duties

HOW TO BECOME A TEAM PARENT

Any adult member can be a Team Parent. Contact your coach and inform them you wish to help. Some returning coaches will already have a returning Team Parent. A coach might also reach out to all parents and guardians seeking the help of a Team Parent.

ARE THERE ANY REQUIREMENTS?

There are two hard requirements: a background check and SafeSport training.

The background check is a simple online form.

For SafeSport, as a member of US Soccer, LBYSO Team Parents are required to be SafeSport certified. Federal law (SafeSport Act) requires any adult interacting with children under 18 to have this certification. The training fee is covered by LBYSO. Once training is completed, it is renewed annually with a brief, free refresher.

WHO DO I CONTACT TO GET STARTED?

Contact the Team Parent Coordinator - teamparent@lbyso.org.

The coordinator will provide all the information required as well as a guide to help you get going.
