Coaches Corner is your resource throughout the season to assist you in helping your players get the most from their LBYSO experience. We aim to provide you with information on our coaching requirements, general coaching information, practice and game plan resources and team management tips.

- Work around your schedule. Coaches set the day, time and location for practice(s).
- Be apart of your players development.
- You are not required to have a child registered with LBYSO to coach.
- Fees for certifications are reimbursed.
- 100% of your players registration (one per coach only) will be reimbursed.
- Recruit another parent or friend to be the assistant coach.
- 50% of an assistant coaches players registration will be reimbursed.
- MOST IMPORTANTLY - HAVING FUN AND ENJOYING THE GAME OF SOCCER!

LBYSO Recreational Coaches
The Coaches Registration opens each spring and fall for the following season and is a separate registration from the player registrations.
There are a list of Coaching Requirements that will need to be completed by a specific date BEFORE receiving a team roster and beginning practices. The $25 license fee for US Soccer Grassroots course will be reimbursed at the end of the season. There will also be a mandatory coaches meeting at least a month prior to the season starting.

LBYSO Intercity / Travel Coaches
Our U14 and U16 recreational teams play in the CalSouth InterCity League for the fall and JUSA Spring League in the spring. Pertinent information and forms can be found below.

LBYSO Student Coaches
Requirements:
- Minimum age of 16 y/o
- Parental permission
- Must have a vetted adult overseeing practices and games
- A vetted adult is someone who has completed a background check and an SafeSport course
- Commit to 2-4 volunteer hours per week
- Complete Student Coach Consent form (needs to be signed by parent or guardian)
- After approval, complete Coaching Requirements
GAME DAY BASICS
- Game Day Uniforms:
- All players MUST have soccer cleats and shin guards on
- All players in matching jerseys, shorts and socks with uniform tucked in
- InterCity/Travel players MUST bring both jerseys in case of conflicts
- Alternate jersey/pinny for goalkeeper in U8 and above
- The teams with the first and last games of the day (on home fields) will be required to set up and tear down their field. Please refer to the Coaches Toolbox section for division specific set up and tear down instructions.
- Two sideline coaches max. The Head Coach and the Assistant Coach. No coaches behind goals, except for first 3 games in U8 and U10.
- Weather – Games will be played in light rain or drizzle as field conditions allow. LB Parks and/or LBYSO Board members will have final say in determining when to close fields. Appropriate efforts will be made to communicate conditions via Playmetrics and social media platforms as soon as possible.
- Play guidelines – Each age group will adhere to current US Soccer Player Development Initiatives. There are slight variations allowed that are subject to change.
