Intercity & JUSA League FAQ

LBYSO Recreational players in age groups U12 and up generally participate in two seasonal programs: Cal South Intercity League in Fall and the JUSA Spring League in Spring.

Are there tryouts?

No.  We attempt to place all registered players on a team.  We hold new player evaluations before each season prior to placing them on a team.

How do I register a player?

LBYSO Intercity League and JUSA players sign up with LBYSO just like the younger age groups - through the LBYSO registration system.

How much are fees?

Fees are for Intercity and JUSA are slightly higher than fees for younger age groups.  This is to accommodate home and away uniforms, Cal South administration costs and full referee crew fees.  Actual cost is shown on our registration page when sign ups begin.

What's the difference between LBYSO Rec and Intercity and JUSA Rec games?

The key differences between LBYSO Rec and Intercity and JUSA Rec are:

  • Intercity and JUSA League groups teams from multiple leagues in the area, not just LBYSO
  • Home games are played at LBYSO fields
  • Away games are played at the opposing teams league fields
  • Schedules are made and maintained by Cal South or JUSA

What leagues are away games played against?

Away games are played against leagues in the Southeast L.A. and Northern O.C. area.

How much playing time does each player get?

As a recreational league, each Intercity player plays at least 50% of each game.

Are coaches provided?

Coaches for our teams in Intercity and JUSA are volunteers who must meet the same licensing and certification requirements as other LBYSO Rec coaches outlined on our Coaches Corner page.
